————————-
The GRD softball teams will continue to play in the Central Ohio Girls Fast pitch League (COGFP), which includes the following communities and schools: Lakewood, Johnstown, St. Louisville, Utica, Northridge, and Licking Valley. The softball season will run through late June or early July, depending on when the post-season tournament is held for each level. Teams will be established for 8 and under (machine pitch), 10 and under (girl pitch/coach pitch), 12 and under (girl pitch), and 14 and under (girl pitch).
There will be a $25 late fee for those registrations accepted after the Feb. 24 deadline. After the team drafts, late registrants and new residents will be accepted only if the team rosters are not full and are subject to approval by the Softball Commissioner and the Executive Director.
Players will be allowed to play up one level of play if the player passes evaluation tests administered by the Softball Commissioner. A factor to be considered in allowing a player to play up one level is if player has a sibling at that next level. The Softball Commissioner will determine eligibility to play up a level.
Open gyms will be held at Granville High School on Sundays from January 8th through February 26th. Players of all levels are encouraged to participate in the open gyms as fundamental skills will be stressed. Please watch for announcements on the GRD website as well as email notifications for specific times that have yet to be determined.
This league is comprised of volunteer coaches. By signing your player up with this league, you are agreeing to support this league through coaching, helping to maintain the facilities, and/or preparing the fields for play.
All new players to the softball program or those moving up a level will enter a draft if there is more than one team at that level. Players that are returning to the same level as last year will remain with the same team. Teams may be redrafted if the number of teams at a level changes. Players subject to a draft must attend an evaluation session.
