Process of Team Selection

6U division t-ball/softball teams are appointed by GRD staff.

8U, 10U, 12U divisions select teams by draft process.

8U, 10U, 12U Player Evaluation Prior To Draft

To gauge each child we will conduct an evaluation on Saturday or Sunday, 3/5 & 6, at the GIS.  Specific evaluation times will be emailed to parents prior to evaluations.

If your child is:

  1. New to our league
  2. Entering a new age division of play.
  3. Has received GRD permission to be redrafted onto a new team

Your child will be scheduled to participate in one of these evaluation dates.   Children will be expected to throw/catch, hit, field ground balls, catch pop flies. More details will follow.

Petition To “Play-Up”

We segment the playing development process by league age.  We recognize that children have unique emotional and physical developmental rates and therefore the GRD does offer parents of children who are both emotionally and physically capable to request permission to “play-up” one level.

“Play-up” Options:

  1. 6U to 8U
  2. 8U to 10U
  3. 10U to 12U

“Play-up” Petitions

1.  Must be in writing

2.  Must be sent to Youth Sports Director via email at ajgaul@granvillerec.org  by Monday, February 22, 2022.

3.  Child must attend their evaluation appointment in order to be eligible to play up.

-The “play-up” petition will be approved or declined by the GRD after the “play-up” division coaches provide an assessment of the child’s optimal division of play.
