Fifteen local agencies have worked jointly to bring you 7 days of unique programming that we hope will challenge you to turn off your screens and read, play, go outdoors and get in touch with your community.

Outdoor Adventures
Turn off those screens and tune into nature! We will have activities for the entire family including archery, disc golf, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, crafts, games, kites, and more. Historical Tours/Headstone Dedication
Mini-tours of the historic cemetery and gravesites of settlers and veterans start at 1:30. At 2:30, witness the dedication of recreated headstones for Revolutionary War veteran David Messenger and his wife Hannah. The Hocking Valley Chapter Color Guard Sons of the American Revolution will post flags in the ceremony in Continental Uniforms and Militia Colonial clothing. The Granville Chapter DAR will present a memorial wreath.

Birding Adventure
Join us for a “Birding” adventure in the GIS Land Lab. Bring your camera or binoculars, or borrow some of ours, and talk with local experts as you explore the bio-diversity of this special place. Trails are mowed, but can be muddy and a little rough. Total distance hiked will be over 1.5 miles. Park in the GIS front parking lot!

Observatory Open House
 An open house at the Swasey Observatory (weather permitting). Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in astronomy with the Swasey Observatory 9-inch refracting telescope, as well as 8-inch reflecting telescopes.  Celestial objects for observing may include Jupiter, the moon, and the M13 globular cluster, among others.
