Enter our annual Gingerbread House contest!

Have fun with your family or friends creating your house over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Anyone can enter. All entries need to be dropped off Thursday, December 10, 10AM-4:30 PM (or by appointment) at the Robbins Hunter Museum (enter through side door across from the library).

GINGERBREAD COMPETITION DETAILS:
The 2020 Gingerbread Competition will look a little different this year. The entries will be staged at the Robbins Hunter Museum, but since the museum will not be open for tours, we will upload a photo gallery of the entries and video clip for viewing. Everyone can still vote on The People’s Choice Award which will be on-line this year. There will be a link on the GRD web-site where you can cast your ballot. Join in the fun and make your own creation for the competition!

JUDGING CATEGORIES:
Professional $5; Adult; $5, Family; $5, Teen 13-17; $4, Youth 9-12; $3, 8 and under; FREE

SIZE
Due to display space restrictions, the entry may not exceed 2 feet in height, width, or depth, including the base.

CONSTRUCTION
The contest is not restricted to houses; any type of building may be submitted. It is recommended that you submit your entry on a solid base, such as plywood. The main structure must be made entirely of gingerbread. All products used in the construction of the entry must be edible products except for the base. Edible materials are not limited to sweets. No artificial display materials, such as cardboard, Styrofoam or interior lighting, are to be used in the construction of the house. Candies must be unwrapped and free of any inedible materials. No glue or artificial adhesives may be used.

DELIVERY
Houses may be delivered to the ROBBINS HUNTER MUSEUM, 221 EAST BROADWAY on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10th, BETWEEN 10:00 AM AND 4:30 PM (OR BY APPOINTMENT). Each entry must be accompanied by its own entry form and entry fee if applicable. Each entry must have the competitors name and telephone number clearly marked under the base.

JUDGING
Entries will be judged by an independent panel of culinary and crafts experts. Each entry will be judged by age group based on Overall Appearance, Originality/Creativity, and Difficulty. The rulings of the judging panel will be final. Winners will be announced the week of December 14th and prizes will be mailed. Public judging for the Peoples Choice Award will be on-line. There will be a survey link on the GRD web-site to cast your ballot between noon December 12 – 19th. Peoples Choice Award winner will be contacted the week of December 21st.

DISPLAY
A picture entry gallery will be placed on the GRD Website and a video tour of the gingerbread house display can be found on the GRD & Robbins Hunter Facebook Pages. Votes will be cast for the People’s Choice Award via a Survey Monkey link posted on Website and Facebook Pages between Noon on December 12th-19th.

Leave the mess at home and come to the Gingerbread Workshop to build your own house! Participants will be provided a house to decorate with royal icing and a variety of holiday candy, all supplies included. Everyone will take their creation home at the end of the session but are encouraged to enter the Gingerbread Contest sponsored by the GRD at the Robbins Hunter Museum.

We will follow COVID protocols at the Licking County Community Center building:
• Participant and adult will have temperature taken upon entering the facility and complete questionnaire
• Maximum limit of 25 people in the facility
• Masks required at all times
• Social distanced workstations will be set up for each participant & adult helper
