Grades K-4 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM

We are moving this year’s Hour of Code to Granville Intermediate School. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the session start time. Below is a list of the different activities in each session students can register for. Each student can register for one activity. Please note that if an individual activity has limited enrollment, it may be combined with another activity in the same session.

01: Moana: Wayfinding with Code [K-4; Beginner] New
Write your own programs to help Moana and Maui wayfind and navigate the seas! 

02: Hello Ruby [Unplugged] [K-2; Beginner] New
Meet Ruby- a curious, imaginative young girl who loves learning about the world of computers and programming! In this session, students will read Hello Ruby: Journey Inside the Computer to learn about the parts inside of a computer. After that, students will participate in a hands-on activity based off the book where they build their own computers!

03: Star Wars: Building a Galaxy with Code – Code.org [K-4; Beginner]
Drag & drop blocks or type code to control BB-8, a spherical droid who you will see soon on the big screen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Note: This is the same Star Wars activity offered at our 2016 Hour of Code

04: Create Your Own Google Logo [2-4; Beginner] New
Every day, artists and programmers work together to create the “Google Doodle” that shows up on Google’s homepage. These Doodles celebrate holidays, famous people, historic events, and more. Learn to create your own logo in Scratch with the help of programmers from Google!

05: Minecraft Hero’s Journey [1-4; Beginner] New
Drag & drop blocks of code to control the Agent to help Alex or Steven get around obstacles and complete levels, all while learning some important programming basics along the way!

06: The Foos [K-2; Beginner]
Program lovable Foos to solve puzzles. Then enter Foo Studio to make and share games. Everyone everywhere can learn to code with The Foos award-winning “no words” interface. Note: This session is the same as the Foos session in 2016

07: Disney Infinity PlayLab [K-4; Beginner]
Use Play Lab to create a story or game starring Disney Infinity characters. Note: This session is the same activity offered at the 2016 Hour of Code

Parents are encouraged to attend to help their younger students with these activities.
