Travel Basketball:

This program is for competitive play. There is a greater time and financial commitment with more practices, games and increased travel time. The Granville Recreation District travel basketball teams are open for any boy or girl in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Players must stay within their grade level and gender. Playing time is not always evenly distributed.

Tryouts

Travel teams are assembled each year based on player evaluations conducted in late September and early October. Players will be selected by a non-biased group established by the GRD basketball committee. Players must attend 1 of the 2 evaluations to be considered for the travel team.

Practices and Games

Practices will be scheduled by the coaches at a minimum of two per week and are held in various gyms.

Games are normally played on Saturday and Sundays. Games are rarely scheduled throughout the week but could occur. Teams will play in COBBA or COGBA League, which includes teams from Columbus and surrounding areas.

Cost

The cost per player will vary based on grade and gender, due to the number of tournaments entered. An estimated cost for a travel player is roughly between $210-$250 for the season.
